How to Write Excellent Software Documentation

Ferry Vermeulen User Manuals

Software manages and controls our lives. It is everywhere!

You may use Google’s software to find the quickest way to the gym, the meaning of the word ‘serendipity’ or to set your Adwords budget.

Or maybe you use accounting software for your business administration, Microsoft Word for writing your thesis or are you designing a logo using Adobe Illustrator.

But also traffic lights or parking machines, do not operate without software.

And as a result of Industry 4.0 and other buzz words such as AI, meta products, robotics, big data, Internet of Things etc, software and hardware products are very much interwoven nowadays.

In this episode I talk with Alessandro Stazi and Professor Sissi Closs about creating software documentation.

Some topics we cover:

  • What is good software documentation?
  • How can standards help you to write better software documentation?
  • What will the future bring us regarding software user manuals?
