We're Hiring: Senior Technical Writer (NL Based) | INSTRKTIV

At INSTRKTIV, we have a simple belief: if a company builds a great product, its documentation should be just as exceptional.

We write user instructions that are legally compliant, intuitive, and designed for real people, not just auditors. Our work helps manufacturers reduce liability, improve the user experience, and grow with confidence into international markets.

And now, we're looking for a Senior Technical Writer to join our team.

What does the role look like?

You will work with a wide range of innovative clients — from mechanical engineering firms and clean-tech brands to hardware startups and Kickstarter pioneers. Every project is different, and every manual matters.

Day-to-day, you will be:

• Researching how products work (hardware, machinery, devices, software) and translating that into clear, structured documentation
• Writing user manuals, quick-start guides, procedures, and more
• Auditing existing documentation for compliance and usability (CE marking, IEC/IEEE 82079-1, ISO standards)
• Collaborating with engineers, designers, lawyers, and product managers
• Optionally supporting CMS setup, translation management, or internal AI and automation projects

Where you'll be working

This is a hybrid role combining remote work with regular on-site days in the Netherlands. You must be based in the Netherlands, as on-site presence at client locations and our team is an integral part of how we work. We are not able to consider candidates based outside of the Netherlands for this position.

Who we're looking for

You take the profession seriously. You know that a poorly written safety warning or manual is not a minor detail, but something that can have direct consequences for safety, liability, and proper use. You are precise, without ever losing sight of the reader.

You should have:

• At least 5 years of experience in technical writing or user documentation
• A strong grasp of compliance and safety regulations (CE, ISO, ANSI, or similar)
• Excellent written English and a sharp instinct for structure, clarity, and tone
• An independent, tech-curious mindset
• Residency in the Netherlands (required for on-site work)

Bonus points for knowledge of Dutch or German, familiarity with DITA or structured authoring, or experience working with product teams in an agency or freelance context.
